For nearly a decade, I’ve been working on a single idea: that we can fight climate change not only by capturing carbon, but by cooling the climate itself.

That’s why I launched Cooling the Climate and why we’re now building ARARA—our regenerative financial engine that connects funding directly to Indigenous communities restoring the Amazon. 

Now we need your help. We’re raising $175,000 to complete ARARA’s MVP—its first working version. With your support, we’ll bring ARARA to COP30 in Brazil this November—the moment when the world’s climate efforts shift from pledges to real-world solutions.

Since launching in January, we’ve been building the tools to make this plan real. At the heart of the plan is ARARA, a powerful new engine driving Amazon restoration. It connects funding directly to results, scales resources, and accelerates action to stop deforestation.

Why We’re Raising Funds Now

On September 3, we will launch our $175,000 fundraising campaign to complete ARARA’s MVP. This will allow us to unveil ARARA to the world at COP30 in Belém, Brazil this November—right in the heart of the Amazon.

  • Cooling the Climate began with a bold idea: What if we could scale nature-based climate solutions — led by Indigenous communities, powered by digital tools, and backed by smart finance?

    Since then, we’ve:

    • Built a diverse, international coalition of scientists, technologists, Indigenous leaders, partners, and funders

    • Mapped out the ARARA platform, including its financial architecture, governance model, and technical roadmap

    • Established critical partnerships with on-the-ground organizations working to stop deforestation and uphold Indigenous stewardship

    • Developed early prototypes that demonstrate how ARARA will track funding flows and measure climate impact

    • Confirmed our presence at COP30, where we’ll present ARARA and Cooling the Climate to an international audience of climate decision-makers

    Everything is in place—except the funding to build the MVP. That’s where you come in.

  • COP30, the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference, will be held this November in Belém, Brazil—on the edge of the Amazon Rainforest. For the first time, the world’s most influential climate summit is happening in the heart of the ecosystem we’re fighting to protect. This is a pivotal moment to spotlight the Amazon, elevate Indigenous leadership, and introduce real solutions on a global stage. Cooling the Climate will be there to present the ARARA platform—and with your support, we can ensure our vision is ready for the world.

  • COP30 is just the beginning. Once we present the ARARA platform in Brazil, we’ll move straight into Phase 2: expanding and refining the system for real-world deployment.

    This includes:

    • Piloting ARARA with partner organizations in the Amazon

    • Integrating local data sources and feedback loops

    • Onboarding funders and field teams into the platform

    • Building public dashboards to show transparent, verifiable impact

    • Growing the coalition of supporters, users, and stewards

    Our goal isn’t just to make noise at COP30—it’s to build lasting infrastructure for climate accountability. With your support, we’ll move from prototype to platform, from vision to action.

  • Arara comes from the Indigenous Tupinambá word for the scarlet macaw — a brilliantly colored bird that thrives in the heart of the Amazon. The word itself echoes the macaw’s distinctive call, a sound that carries across the forest at sunrise.

    For Indigenous peoples, the macaw symbolizes life, regeneration, and the vibrant spirit of the rainforest. Like the bird it’s named for, ARARA is a call to action — signaling a new dawn for the Amazon, its peoples, and the planet we share.
